![]() ![]() This is a Very Good Copy of this book in a handsome and contemporary full turquoise leather binding with gilt title lettering to spine.An attractive copy with 40 tipped in coloured plates by Arthur Rackham.First Published in 1908 it was hugely successful and went on to be reprinted many times,so exquisite are the Rackham plates with each one having a captioned tissue guard.The book has clean new endpapers with half title page present and there are no previous names or inscriptions present.The book has a firm binding with no hinge weakness,no leaning to spine.There is some scattered foxing/spotting throughout but all the plates are in very good order and all the internal page gatherings are tight and firm.Along with the coloured plates are many b&w illustrations set within and also wrapped around the text of Shakespeare's comedy.There are a couple oif handling marks to the outer boards.Large 4to that measures 25cm by 18cm Reprinted. Rackham aveva inaugurato il suo inconfondibile stile grafico con l'illustrazione dell'opera Rip Van Winkle di Irving nel 1905 e da allora si impegnò nell'illustrazione di numerosi capolavori della letteratura anglosassone con il suo stile a cavallo tra Art Nouveau e antiche suggestioni legate ad un mondo celtico popolato da fate e folletti. ![]() L'illustratore è Arthur Rackham, uno dei protagonisti della cosiddetta ?Golden Age? dell'illustrazione inglese, che va dal 1890 fino alla Grande Guerra.
